A Park Accessible to Everyone

THE VISION

Marsha’s Happy Haven at Terry Park has been a vision for many including Ginny Jackson who has spearheaded this new proposed park designed for special needs individuals in mind. The park concept sits on a .54 acre section of the existing Terry Park in the City of Heath, Texas. The play structures and features are designed for wheelchair accessibility, sensory friendly and overall safety in mind. The features also allow wounded war veterans to enjoy some of these attractions and take part in playing with their children as well.

THE BENEFITS

Many disabled people spend their free time alone, so all-inclusive playgrounds like Marsha’s Happy Haven give them the opportunity to spend their time with other individuals.

These playgrounds promote active play and aid in the development of social skills. Inclusive playgrounds also benefit children without disabilities by teaching them to be accepting of people who may not be like them, this provides everyone with the opportunity to develop friendships and build a sense of community.
